October 2, 2005

Bethesda Softworks, creators of the popular Elder Scrolls series has just announced the cast of voice actors who will lend their voices to characters of its upcoming Xbox 360/PC game, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

First on the list is the voice of the Emperor, Patrick Stewart. Stewart is best known for his role as Captain Jean-Luc Picard on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and also stars as Prof. Charles Xavier in the X-men series of films. This won't be Stewart's first video game role, either — he's voice acted for a number of games, including those in the Star Trek and X-men series and a recent Forgotten Realms game.

Sean Bean will take on the role of the Emperor's son. Bean is best known for his role as Boromir in the Lord of the Rings films. Bean also appeared in Troy, National Treasure and most recently, Flightplan. He'll also be appearing in the upcoming film adaptation of the Silent Hill game series.

Terrence Stamp will also take a role in the game. Stamp played Supreme Chancellor Valorum in Star Wars: Episode I, and has also appeared in My Boss' Daughter, The Haunted Mansion and Elektra. Stamp also played for the recent Jolie–Pitt film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but his scenes were deleted in editing.

Lynda Carter will return to the Elder Scrolls series in Oblivion as the voice of many Nordic race characters. She's best known for her role as Wonder Woman in the televised series of the same name. Carter also appeared in the 2005 film The Dukes of Hazzard. She has acted for Besthesda before, providing her voice for Oblivion's predecessor: Morrowind.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion will be available for the PC and Xbox 360 systems later this year.
