Final Fantasy XI Beta to hit with Xbox 360 Launch in Japan

Limited edition bundle gets you more than a peek

October 13, 2005

Microsoft and Square Enix announced that the beta version of Final Fantasy XI on the Xbox 360 will be released with a limited edition package of the system. The beta will be made available simultaneously with the Xbox 360's release in Japan (which occurs on December 10.)

Final Fantasy XI is, of course, already available for the PS2 and PC systems. The Xbox 360 version will make use of the Xbox's high-end graphics to surpass the PS2 version in the console world.

This limited edition package, which includes the hard-drive–equipped version of the Xbox 360 (required for FF11 play) will cost 39,795 yen, according to Microsoft.

There has been no announcement of a North American beta of FFXI on the Xbox 360, but the game is expected to launch either at the end of 2005 or early 2006 on that platform.
