Amano working on Final Fantasy XIII art
Legendary character designer may have confirmed this game's existence
April 27, 2006
Yoshitaka Amano, the character and art designer behind most of the Final Fantasy series told French magazine Japan Vibes that he's currently working on concept art for Final Fantasy XIII.
While no end of Final Fantasy is in sight, and we can only assume that there will be an FF XIII, but this is the first word we've heard uttered from anyone likely to be involved with the project.
Meanwhile, Final Fantasy XII is currently available in Japan and will see light in North America later this year. It's been years since a main-line Final Fantasy title has been released — Final Fantasy XI was first released in 2003, and it was an online title. Considering how long it took to develop Final Fantasy XII, we can only assume that Square Enix is at least putting together concepts for Final Fantasy XIII if it plans to release the game by the end of the decade. If they're planning to say anything official in the near future, we'll probably hear about it in early May during E3.
