Oblivion rating upped to 'Mature'

ESRB changes rating after increased review and an 'adult' modification

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB), the group that determines video game age ratings in North America, has changed the rating of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion from T, for Teen, to M, for Mature.

The reasoning for the changed rating is both a result of a review of the violent content in the game, and for a modification to the game which allowed for "adult" content.

The SRB commented that Oblivion contained "more detailed and intense depictions of blood and gore." than they had originally witnessed in he game.

The game's creator, Bethesda Softworks, commented on the rating change, saying that "Bethesda Softworks made what it believes was a full, accurate, and comprehensive submission on Oblivion to the ESRB months before the game
