Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children sales reach 2.4 million discs

Square Enix calls CG-animated film a success

Square Enix and Sony have announced the latest sales figures for the English version of the film Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. The film has sold over 1.4 million discs worldwide — a combined total of DVDs and UMDs (which are playable on the PlayStation Portable).

Combined with sales of the Japanese version, Advent Children has seen over 2.4 million sales worldwide.

1.3 million of the English-version sales were in North America, while only 100,000 copies were sold in Europe. Square Enix is planning to further localize the film in other areas of Europe.

"With the French version having recently been released on June 7, I look forward to the upcoming European-language releases, which will make the film available to an even larger audience around the world," guesses Shinji Hashimoto, Corporate Executive and Producer of Square Enix.
