Final Fantasy XIII (FF13)

Final Fantasy XI to be released in French, German

New localized versions to be unveiled at Games Convention in Leipzig

July 29, 2006

On August 23 at the Leipzig Games Convention, Square Enix will unveil two new language versions of its persistent online RPG, Final Fantasy XI.

The game, which is already published in English and Japanese worldwide, will be re-introduced to French and German speakers in their own language.

Players of different languages interact with each other on the same servers in Final Fantsy XI. The game includes an auto-translate function where common words and phrases, including those relevant to the game, can be automatically translated between English and Japanese. The new releases will undoubtedly extend this functionality into French and German.

Final Fantasy XI breaks the language barrier, allowing players worldwide to cooperate effectively.

A considerable number of French-speaking people already play Final Fantasy XI. There are some French-only linkshells on various servers in the game. However, the game iteself still runs in English.

No release date has been announced, but a test version of the localizations will be available at the Games Convention.
