Speed hackers banned from Final Fantasy XI
Latest wave of account deletions targets third-party tool users
August 30, 2006
Square Enix has announced that it suspended or permenantly terminated over 1400 PlayOnline accounts today for using unauthorized third-party software in its MMORPG, Final Fantasy XI.
This is the latest wave in the company's ongoing effort to rid its online game of cheaters and real-money traders (those who sell in-game items and currency for real money).
This latest action targeted those using software that altered their character's in-game movement. This includes software that allows a character to move faster than they normally would, as well as software that allows players to instantly teleport to specified locations, or to move through walls or barriers.
Square Enix continues to remind its players that all unauthorized software can result in action against its account.
