Square Enix to release Final Fantasy IV Remake for the Nintendo DS
Following the success of FF3 on the DS, FF4 will make the leap to portable 3D
May 9, 2007
Square Enix has announced that it will release a remake of Final Fantasy IV for the handheld Nintendo DS system. The remake, like the previous Final Fantasy III DS title, will adapt the game into full 3D.
The announcement comes with mixed reviews. FF3 was a great success on the Nintendo DS and gave a nice facelift to the "classic" Final Fantasy line, and that game's design team will take the helm of this project at well. However, FF4 recently re-released for the Game Boy Advance with minor graphics updates. Despite the fact that this is a full remake, it is the same game.
No release plans were given for the game.
Square Enix also announced that it will release an International version of Final Fantasy XII, which historically means adding extra features to the game and bringing the English dialogue to Japan.
