Square Enix shows off new RPG's graphics, large-scale battles

At the Tokyo Game Show earlier today, Square Enix revealed the trailer for their upcoming RPG, The Last Remnant.

The trailer consists mostly of cutscenes hinting at the game's plot, but it also contains clips of the battle system. The Last Remnant has been said to include battles on a much larger scale than most RPGs, with the player participating with groups of playable and non-playable characters in fights against dozens of enemies. The trailer shows off the extent of this RPG.

It was also announced that it will be simultaneously released in Japan and North America — which is good news for those in the U.S. and Canada, who otherwise wait months before Japanese titles are localized for an English-speaking market. The game is being released for the PS3 and Xbox 360 consoles, and is expected to hit store shelves next Spring.
