January 16, 2008

Square Enix's European publishing company has announced that it will release Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII- to Europe and PAL territories in Spring 2008.

The game, which will be released exclusively on the Sony PSP handheld, is a prequel to Final Fantasy VII, which remains the best-selling Final Fantasy title to date.

"[Crisis Core] is one of the most anticipated Final Fantasy releases of all times," says John Yamamoto, president and CEO of Square Enix's PAL division, "The game pushes the boundaries of the PSP hardware and will offer a truly fantastic gameplay experience for new fans and fans of the original installment."

The game takes place seven years before the events in Final Fantasy VII and will feature most of the main characters from the original game. The story will follow Zack Fair, a SOLDIER member from Zack's past, along with other SOLDIER members Angeal (a new character) and Sephiroth.

The game has been scheduled for a March 25 release date in North America, and was released to Japan last September.
