THQ will buy Big Huge Games

Studio's upcoming 'big huge RPG' still a mystery

THQ has announced that it plans to acquire Big Huge Games.

The companies say that Big Huge Games will continue to operate as normal, maintaining all of its 100 employees at their current office.

Big Huge Games had been working with THQ closely of late. Last May, the company announced that it was working with THQ and Ken Rolston, the lead designer behind The Elder Scrolls titles Morrowind and Oblivion. The project: A "big huge RPG". The news caught the interest of RPG fans but the company has declined to comment further on the game, other than to say that the game will be in first-person perspective and will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC platforms.

The cost of the acquisition has not been disclosed.
