Free weekend for Lord of the Rings Online

Codemasters hopes to reclaim lost players with recent updates and improvements

Ever played The Lord of the Rings Online? Codemasters would like you to come back.

The company has kicked off a free weekend in which former players can rejoin the game for free. The weekend will last from today until Monday, May 12.

The free weekend is an effort to restore interest in the game. Turbine, the developers of LotRO, have recently introduced new content into the game, as well as gameplay features. Apparently, they're hoping they've changed enough to improve playability.

Of course, to play for free, you'll need a previously-activated copy of the game along with the latest updates for it.
