Infinite Undiscovery gets date, trailer

Square Enix announces shipping date for their Xbox 360 exclusive RPG

May 23, 2008

Square Enix has announced the shipment date for their upcoming Xbox 360 RPG, Infinite Undiscovery. The game will ship on September 2, 2008.

Infinite Undiscovery is being developed by tri-Ace, the company behind the Star Ocean and Valkyrie Profile series, in collaboration with Square Enix.

Infinite Undiscovery will rely heavily on player decisions to shape the nature of gameplay. "Every discovery and action that players make has an instant impact on the world, creating an unpredictable gaming experience," Square Enix says in their release. The company also says that Infinite Undiscovery will advance the styles of Star Ocean with the power of the Xbox 360 console.

The game will feature 18 playable characters from which players must choose their party based on the abilities of each character. Strategy and variation will be key themes in the game's battle system, which will be heavily dynamic.

Infinite Undiscovery promises dynamic battles that are seamlessly integrated into the rest of the game's world.

Square Enix will be releasing Infinite Undiscovery worldwide. "Square Enix is entering an exciting new period of delivering great gaming experiences to our fans all around the world at the same time, creating new global communities," explains president and CEO John Yamamoto. "This is something that we have aimed to do for a long time and we look to continue to deliver worldwide gaming experiences across all platforms well into the future."

With vivid and dynamic environments that respond to a player's every move, Infinite Undiscovery promises to be a refreshing update to the RPG genre, if nothing else.

Square Enix also released a new trailer for the game.

[Editor's Note: Keep in mind, Square Enix announces shipment dates, not release dates. The September 2 date may not be the date the game is actually available in stores. This is probably the most annoying thing that Square Enix does.]
