Knights of the Old Republic MMO reportedly in development
Dismissed LucasArts employee gives out company's project list
June 8, 2008
Late last week, LucasArts laid off 75-100 employees. Among the departed were Peter Hirschmann, the company's VP of product development, and Shawn Storc, the producer of the LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones titles. A spokesperson later clarified that Hirschmann's departure was a mutual decision.
Reportedly, one of the former employees of the company, angry about his dismissal, contacted Kotaku with a list of games that the company is currently developing.
Possibly the most interesting is Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic III, which Kotaku's source claims to be the rumored MMORPG based on the highly-successful series. The game is supposedly a joint venture between LucasArts and BioWare, the developers of the first Knights of the Old Republic title.
Also among the list of games are Star Wars: Battlefront III, a Nintendo Wii lightsaber game, and two Indiana Jones titles, one more LEGO, one not.
It's not likely that LucasArts will officially confirm or deny the listing of games… the best PR move they can make is probably to ignore the whole thing. But at any rate, it's more fuel for the Knights of the Old Republic rumour mill.
