Japan to get FFXIII in 2009

No Final Fantasy this year, says Square Enix

August 4, 2008

At a recent promotional event, Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XIII won't be released in 2008. Instead, a vague 2009 date has been set for the Japanese release of the game.

North America and Europe have been promised a simultaneously release of Final Fantasy XIII for the PS3 and Xbox 360, but no date has been set.

Square Enix also revealed that development on the Xbox 360 version won't start until after the PS3 version is complete, which could mean further delay for the English versions of the game.

The company said that a PS3 demo of Final Fantasy XIII will ship with the Blu-ray version of Advent Children: Complete, the director's cut version of the FF7-based film. HD trailers for Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII will also come on the disc.
