Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep gets release date, impressive voice cast

May 20th, 2010 by Colin Temple

Square Enix’s upcoming PSP game Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep has been given a release date for its English version. The game was released in Japan this January, and will be out in September in other areas. North America will get the game September 7, while Europe will be playing Birth By Sleep on September 10.

In addition, the voice cast for the English speaking parts has been announced, and contains some big names for a PSP game. Mark Hamill, Willa Holland, Jesse McCartney, James Woods and Leonard Nimoy have all signed on for roles in the title. Nimoy, who has recently announced his planned retirement from acting, will be giving one of his final performances for the game.

Square Enix says that this game is a prequel to the rest of the Kingdom Hearts series, and can stand out as a main Kingdom Hearts title rather than a small spin-off. The Kingdom Hearts games merge Square Enix RPG stories, and a few Final Fantasy characters, with Disney worlds. Birth By Sleep, specifically, will involve the worlds of Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and Lilo & Stitch.

The English version of the game not only includes new voice acting, but new features that have been added to the game’s multiplayer mode. Watch for it this September.
