In the not-so-distant future, Lex Luthor has managed to organize the world’s villains and defeat the world’s superheros once and for all. However, in doing so, he has left the world vulnerable to Brainiac. Surviving the invasion, Luthor has travelled back in time to warn the JLA of the coming threat, and give super-powers to more humans to prepare for the coming threat…

DC Universe Online (DCUO) is a massively-multiplayer online (MMO) game set in the DC Comics multiverse. The game is primarily an action game, while the characters level up and assign skills like an action-RPG.

The game features the ability to play as a hero or villain, under the mentorship of Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Joker, Lex Luthor or Catwoman. Numerous other DC Comics characters appear in DC Universe Online, including Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman, Deathstroke, Powergirl and Batgirl.

DCUO was released in January 2011 for the PC and PlayStation 3 (PS3) platforms.
