The Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall

An Imperial servant is sent to the Breton city of Daggerfall to retreive a missing letter that leads to the location of an ancient and powerful item, the Mantella. Now it's up to this adventurer to protect the Mantella from the wrong hands, because controls the Mantella, controls the fate of Tamriel.

Daggerfall is the sequel to The Elder Scrolls: Arena. This massive, open-ended RPG builds upon the system of Arena to create an even larger world.

Daggerfall did away with the traditional experience points system of Arena and moved to a system based on levelling specific skills. This system is still employed in current Elder Scrolls games. The goal of this system was to have players create actual roles for their characters. Daggerfall also extended the non-linear and open-ended nature of the series by offering six possible endings to the game that depend on the player's actions.

One of the most significant features of Daggerfall was the enormous environment available to players. The area of play available in Daggerfall is roughly 161,000 square miles, which is twice the size of Great Britain. By comparison, The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind has about 6 square miles to play in, and The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion has sixteen. The area available in Daggerfall, however, is much less detailed than that of Morrowind or Oblivion.
