Fable II Gargoyle Locations

The Gargoyles in Fable II are the small monster head statues found mounted on walls and buildings throughout Albion. When you're nearby, they speak to you in a distinct Scottish accent, mocking you. It's only fitting, then, that you shoot them in the face. (Because they're mean, not because they're Scottish.)

Destroying gargoyles will enable you to access a hidden Gargoyle trove, where doors can be unlocked and treasure found. Perhaps most notably, you'll earn a relic crossbow and the achievement, The Gargoyle, when you destroy them all. You'll earn new treasure for every ten gargoyles destroyed, with the crossbow and achievement earned after finding all 50 gargoyles.

Please Note: I've tried to write this guide without spoilers, but since some of these Gargoyle locations are context-specific, and are only available after certain plot points occur, a few hints may be mentioned. Consider yourself warned.

The following are all of the gargoyle locations in Fable II, organized by location:

Bandit Coast: 2 Gargoyles

  1. On the left side of the map, there's a Gargoyle located in an enclosure behind some doors. You'll need to drop down on the left path.
  2. The other is by the main ruins of the bandit camp, up high.

Bloodstone: 4 Gargoyles

  1. One gargoyle must be found during the Treasure Island of Doom quest. When you get to the island during this quest, one of the gargoyles is on the pathway up and out of the water, after you fall into the pool with all of the waterfalls. You should be able to see it on your way, if you're paying attention. Don't leave this area without destroying the Gargoyle!
  2. A gargoyle is on a crane on the docks, just past the bard and the boathouse.
  3. On the docks where the ships are, if you dive into the water, swim to the far right of this area while facing the open sea. There's a sandy part here that you can climb onto. A gargoyle is on a rock a little futher out towards the sea, and you can shoot it from here.
  4. There's another one on a rock tucked away between the boathouse and a house. It's to the left of the door to get into the boathouse. You'll have to find the right angle to shoot it between the buildings.

Bower Lake: 5 Gargoyles

  1. One is on the ruin between the Gypsy camp and the island entrance to the old tomb. It's right near where you swim across to reach the tomb.
  2. Near Brightwood, there is a ruined archway. There are two Gargoyles here. The first is on the Brightwood side as you approach it, look up.
  3. The second one is on the other side of the archway.
  4. Inside the Tomb of Heroes, as you cross through the first large room with the pool of water, turn around to look back at the opposite door. The Tomb of Heroes, can be accessed as part of the Rescuing Charlie quest, available in the Gypsy Camp after your time in the Spire.
  5. One is upstream from the waterfall, on a rock facing the gypsy camp. To reach it, you'll need to go through the gypsy camp and climb up a path leading behind it. The area behind the gypsy camp is not open until later in the game.

Bowerstone Cemetery: 5 Gargoyles

  1. After you cross through the cemetery area with the expression statue in the middle, continue up some stairs and head to the left. There's a tomb at the end of this little area, and to the right is a gargoyle.
  2. After this one, go up the next flight of stairs and you should see a Gargoyle to your right on another building.
  3. Continuing up the path to the upper-most area where a single large tomb is, you'll find a gargoyle on top of a building to the right (while facing the tomb).
  4. After completing the Love Hurts quest later in the game, you'll be able to find one behind the gate that is unlocked when you buy the Cemetery Mansion. This one can be shot down earlier in your Fable II game, but it's easiest to spot after opening the gate.
  5. The next one does have to be done after the Love Hurts quest, when you purchase the Cemetery Mansion. Inside the Shelley Crypt, which is located behind that gate. As you progress through the area, you'll cross some invisible blue-flame walkways. At the top end of these you'll find a Gargoyle off to your right.

Bowerstone Market: 4 Gargoyles

  1. One is located above the main gate, by the entrance to Bower Lake. You'll need to follow the stairs up to get above the gate, all the way across it. The gargoyle is easy to spot above a closed doorway.
  2. Another gargoyle is near the gate, in the carriage building. You can either approach it when the carriage isn't there (by taking a carriage away) or by shooting around a carraige if one blocks the way.
  3. On the lower level below the bridge, on the gate's side of the river (the sandy area), another Gargoyle is on the stone wall.
  4. Another Gargoyle is inside the furniture shop in Bowerstone Market, upstairs.

Bowerstone Old Town: 2 Gargoyles

  1. One is inside one of the houses, The Felling Residence. This house is towards the dead end where you began your game. The Gargoyle is above the stairs.
  2. Another is on the water tower by the warehouse.

Brightwood: 5 Gargoyles

  1. There's one above an archway right before you enter Westcliff.
  2. Beyond Brithwood Tower in the south-eastern area of the map, there's a small lake with a tower in the middle. You can find the gargoyle around the back of the tower.
  3. One is inside the Forsaken Fortress. When you follow the pathway inside, you'll come to an area with two stairways (one on either side). The gargoyle is on a pillar up the staircase to the right.
  4. One is inside Archon's Knot. To get to this area, you'll need to go up Brightwood Tower to where the teleporter is. Just beyond the teleporter there is a break in the wall. Jump from here into Archon's Knot. Just as you enter and fall into the water, you'll find the gargoyle behind you.
  5. The last one is at the very top of Brightwood Tower, and can only be accessed after you purchase the tower later in the game. In this room, you'll be able to see a gargoyle on the roof outside the window. You'll need to shoot through the window to hit it.

Fairfax Gardens: 3 Gargoyles

  1. One is located above the entrance to Castle Fairfax, on the front of the building.
  2. Another gargoyle is inside Lady Grey's Tomb. You'll gain access to this area in the Love Hurts quest, found later in the game at the Cemetery Mansion. As you first enter the tomb, before you vault down through a hole, look straight ahead and shoot the gargoyle there.
  3. The third gargoyle here is located inside Castle Fairfax, in the library. You can't get there until you've purchased Castle Fairfax, which can only be done after completing the storyline. This is the only gargoyle that must be found after completing Fable II's story.

Guild Cave: 1 Gargoyle

  1. This one is inside the old tomb, where you journey early in the game. In a large cavern with swimming parts, you'll hear the voice as you ascend to the top of this area. The gargoyle is up on the wall/ceiling above this area, and can be shot from the cliff above (before you drop down).

Oakfield: 3 Gargoyles

  1. There's a gargoyle on the side of the bridge near the Sandgoose pub.
  2. One gargoyle is located around back, behind the house with the sculptor.
  3. The third gargoyle is near the pond by the Temple of Light. It's on some ruins on the path that leads from the pond to the cemetery.

Rookridge: 5 Gargoyles

  1. One is by the beach entrance Hobbe Cave. It's to the right of the cave's entrance, after you dive off of the bridge. If you miss it the first time, you'll need to travel backwards through Hobbe Cave to get it after the bridge is fixed.
  2. There's one inside Hobbe Cave. It's on the wall inside a room with chains and a pathway leading up around the edge.
  3. Past the Rookridge Inn's upstairs, along the tracks you'll come to a small tower by some rail cars (where you chase Dash). There's a gargoyle up there.
  4. There's one by the Temple of Shadows, inside the temple walls (beyond the gate) but not inside the temple itself. You can find this gargoyle on the wall to the right. (To gain access to the Temple of Shadows, you have to eat a questionable meal at the gate. Not exactly a moral activity.)
  5. The last one is actually inside the Temple of Shadows, along the left path.

Westcliff: 5 Gargoyles

  1. If you take a left off the path early on, after the first time you're attacked, you'll find a stone archway leading to a treasure chest. The gargoyle is on the back of the archway.
  2. After you cross a bridge, you'll come across a tower that you can climb. From the top, you can vault down to an area with a chest. A gargoyle is up here too.
  3. Outside of the entrance to the Howling Halls, you'll see a gargoyle on the ruined wall by the archway.
  4. There's one inside the Howling Halls. As you enter a large room with spikes in the floor, the gargoyle is on the wall on the left side.
  5. There's a gargoyle on the cliff up a bit from the docks at Westcliff Camp

Wraithmarsh: 6 Gargoyles

  1. By the cage where you first find yourself in Wraithmarsh, there's a gargoyle inside the nearby house.
  2. There's a broken down carriage building (with a wheel out front) as you enter the first swampy area. A gargoyle is inside.
  3. After you cross the wooden covered bridge, there are some ruins with a chest behind them. Another gargoyle is on these ruins.
  4. As you journey through the cemetery area, you'll cross a path with several tombs leading into a foggy area. The gargoyle is on one of the tombs along the path/corridor.
  5. Inside the Twinblades tomb, which is part of the "Love Hurts" quest from the Bowerstone Cemetery Mansion, you'll find one in the last room above the door.
  6. There's one inside the Shadow Court Tomb, which you'll find as you progress through the main storyline (Hero of Skill). After you cross the spiked floor, turn around and you'll see a gargoyle above the door and the spikes.

Obtaining the Legendary Treasure

The Gargoyles' Treasure Trove is located in Bowerstone Market, under the bridge. You'll see a dive spot in the watter underneath, which you can enter to access the trove. Inside, there are gates to the left and right of the main area. Each gate leads to a treasure chest, and one is opened after each ten gargoyles are destroyed.

After destroying all the gargoyles, you'll be able to follow the completed invisible path to the treasure chest at the end, which contains your reward: a rotten apple. The gargoyles' mockery is unending, it would seem.

But if you're paying attention, you'll notice that the wall behind this treasure chest is cracked, and can be smashed in with a melee attack. Do so, and you'll find your real reward, and unlock your achievement, The Gargoyle.
