Fallout: New Vegas
Fallout: New Vegas is an upcoming title in the Fallout RPG series. The game is being developed by Obsidian Entertainment and will be published by Bethesda Softworks, which currently holds the licesne to the Fallout franchise.
New Vegas will make use of Fallout 3's game engine and will contain similar gameplay. However, Fallout: New Vegas is a spin-off game rather than a sequel. It will take place three years after Fallout 3, but the stories will not be directly related or contain the same characters.
The V.A.T.S. system is back with a few changes. Among them are new action points and special attacks, which will be unique to certain weapon types. The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. abilities system also returns.
New Vegas will also feature a Hardcore mode for Fallout 3 vetrans who want to skip the tutorials and jump into a harder version of the game. The hardcore version includes such inconveniences as hunger and thirst. Ammo will have weight in the hardcore mode, so players will be forced to ration bullets. Stimpacks will gradually take effect, and serious injuries will require a trip to a doctor.
Companions will play a greater role, with NPC characters assisting you while a new Companion Wheel allows you to choose some of their actions. You'll also want to build relationships on a larger level — New Vegas has a new reputation system to accompany Karma. Depending on who you do and do not get along with, you'll build noteriety with certain factions in Vegas. Groups you help out will help you along the way, while others
Fallout: New Vegas is due out late in 2010 on Windows, PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms.
