You must have completed the first Samurai AF: Magoroku in order to begin this quest.
Starting and Finding the Coffer Key
Speak with Guslam in (H-8) of Upper Jeuno. He'll send you to Kuftal Tunnel in order to acquire a key item. You'll need to fight these mobs first until you acquire a Kuftal Coffer Key:
- Scavenger Crab
- Robber Crab
- Cave Worm
- Sand Lizard
- Recluse Spider
- Stygian Pugil
- Deinonychus
Kuftal Tunnel Coffer
Once you get the key, use it on the Kuftal coffer chest to receive the key item. You must be a Samurai and engaged in this quest to receive the item. The coffer chest spawns in one of these locations:

Once you've received the gauntlets (key item), return to Upper Jeuno and speak with Guslam. He'll say that he can't repair them. Speak with Yin Pocanakhu in Lower Jeuno (J-8 inside the Tenshodo Headquarters). She'll talk about a toolbox, and will requires that you pay her 1000 Gil before she tells you where it is.
Once you do, she'll tell you that it's outside the Duty-Free shop in Port Jeuno. Head there, and examine the ??? just outside the shop. Borghertz will appear, and ask for some "Shadow Flames". required to repair the gloves.
The only way to get this is to go to Castle Zvahl Baileys (F-8) and examine the torch there. This will pop Dark Spark, an NM. You'll need help killing this one, but when you do, examine the torch again to get the key item.
Return to the ??? point in Port Jeuno to receive the Myochin Kote, your Samurai AF Gloves.
