Samurai Merits
Merits are a valuable part of any job once level 75 is reached. For Samurai, attack/melee merits are most important. Some of the most valuable generic merits for Samurai are:
- STR
- Great Katana Skill
- Critical Hit Rate
Other merits, such as DEX, VIT, HP or Archery and Polearm skill may also be useful depending on your race and play style.
Samurai-Specific Merits
The following merits can affect Samurai abilities:
- Third Eye Recast (-2 seconds per upgrade)
- Warding Circle Recast (-20 seconds per upgrade)
- Store TP Effect (+2 per upgrade)
- Meditate Recast (-6 seconds per upgrade)
- Zanshin Attack Rate (+1% per upgrade)
Group 2: Merited Abilities and Traits
The following are the job abilities and traits that are available to a Samurai (SAM) through mertis. These were introduced in August 2006.

| Blade Bash | 30 | 15 Min | Target | Attacks the target at a range, ocassionally causing Stun or Plague |

| Ikishoten | 75 | Increases amount of TP gained from a Zanshin attack |
| Overwhelm | 75 | Gives an attack bonus when a Weapon Skill is performed in front of an enemy |
