Support Jobs

A support job is a back-up to your main job. It's designed to give you abilities and attributes to either fill in the gaps in your main job, or give your strengths an extra push.

Your support job will not increase in level as you play with it, so you'll need to level it up on its own. For example, a Level 20 Warrior with a Level 10 White Mage as a support job can, in time, advance to Level 21. Without switching jobs, though, the White Mage job will stay at level 10.

Also, support jobs are capped at half the level of the main job. So if our Level 20 Warrior/Level 10 White Mage were to reverse his jobs, making him a Level 10 White Mage, he'd notice that his support job, Warrior, was now a mere 5. His main job is at level 10, so he can't go higher than 5 with his support. Now, as he advances levels and becomes a Level 12 mage, he will have access to the next level of his warrior—level 6.

How to set a Support Job

Support jobs are set in your Mog house, just like main jobs, but you can't set one until you complete a necessary quest. Once you reach level 18 with your main job, you'll need to journey to Selbina or Mhauru and complete a quest to be able to use this ability.

Selbina's Support Job Quest

In Selbina, you'll need to talk to Isacio (G-10 on the map). He's quite knowledgable when it comes to the job system, but in order to share his knowledge, he asks that you bring back several trophies in order to prove your worth. The three items he requests are all available just outside in Valkurm Dunes. They are: a Crab Apron (which can be found on Snippers), a Damsefly Worm (dropped by Damseflies), and a Magicked Skull ( found on Ghouls). None of these items can be traded or purchased from the Auction House. The first two are fairly easy to find in a party that's fighting those enemies. Fighting Ghouls is a little bit tougher, so you may have more luck asking a higher-level player for some help. Bring the three items back to Isacio and he'll give you a lecture on support jobs, which will enable you to equip one.

Mhauru's Support Job Quest

On the other end of the Ferry is Mhauru, where you can also obtain the job. Vera can help you by telling a little secret, but you'll need to give her a few items to convince her. They are: a Wild Rabbit Tail (from Mighty Rarabs), Dhamel saliva (left behind by Bull Dhamels) and bloody robes (dropped by Bogys). Bring these items to her and she'll teach you all about Support Jobs).
