Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings

Square Enix has announced a handheld sequel to the original PS2 title Final Fantasy XII. Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings is being developed for the Nintendo DS.

Revenant Wings will feature many of the FFXII characters, including Vaan, Penelo, Balthier and Fran. The game is said to have more playable characters than the PS2 title did.

The game is planned to simplify the battle experience, making it more comfortable for Nintendo DS players who are not familiar with Final Fantasy or other turn-based RPG games. Square Enix commented that the game will include a simplified version of FFXII's Gambit system, and will be playable entirely by the DS stylus pen.

Another feature in Revenant Wings will be the return of the Espers. These summons will play a much more significant role in this game. Motomu Toriyama, the game's director, commented saying that there will actually be more summons in Revenant Wings than in any other Final Fantasy title before it.
