Final Fantasy XIII-2

After the world of Pulse was saved from a colission with Cocoon, the heroine Lightning became a part of the crystal pillar that holds the worlds apart. At least, that's what everyone remembers. But Lightning's sister, Serah, remembers things differently, and begins a new quest to follow her sister through time and unlock the mystery of the paradoxes that seem to be tormenting reality itself…

Final Fantasy XIII-2 (FF13-2) is the direct sequel to Final Fantasy XIII, beginning three years after the conclusion of that game.

The game was announced at a Square Enix press conference in January 2011. It is under development by the same team as FF XIII. The game will take place three years after the events of the first title, and will begin with the disappearance of that game's protaganist, Lightning. Her sister, Serah, and a new character will together begin the search for Lightning.

Prior to this announcement, Final Fantasy XIII was already part of a mult-game project that includes Final Fantasy Versus XIII (PS3) and was originally meant to include Final Fantasy Agito XIII (PSP), which has since been retooled as Final Fantasy Type-0. However, while Versus XIII takes place within the same world as Final Fantasy XIII, it features an independant storyline and is not a direct sequel like Final Fantasy XIII-2.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 had a December 15, 2011 release in Japan. North America saw the game released on January 31, 2012, while Europe will got it on February 3, 2012..
