Square Enix re-made Final Fantasy III for the Nintendo DS. Unlike recent ports of early Final Fantasy games on the Game Boy Advance, however, Final Fanasy III updated the game itself, creating a new, modern FF3 with cutscenes and three-dimensional gameplay.

While the original Final Fantasy III was originally released in Japan only for the Nintendo Famicom, the Nintendo DS version is available worldwide.
