Squall
Squall's limit break, Renzokuken, consists of various flashy gunblade attacks.

Selphie
Selphie's limit break randomly casts Spells. These Spells are "freebies"—they do not come out of your inventory. Do Over spins again to choose a new spell. Some of Selphie's spells are obviously favorable. Here are the good ones:

| Rapture | removes enemy from battle. Useless on bosses or undead monsters. |
| The End | instantly kills any enemy, including bosses. (exception: X-ATM092) Very rare, but appears more frequently at higher levels. |
Rinoa
Rinoa's first Limit Break uses her dog, Angelo. You learn these abilities from Pet Pals Magazines.

Rinoa's second limit break is called Angel Wing. Gained on Disc 3, this limit break causes Rinoa to cast random spells on every turn. This can be helpful... but it's totally random, so many of her turns are wasted.
Quistis
Quistis' limit break uses Blue Magic—monsters' spells that can be learned from various items found throughout the game.

Zell
Zell's limit breaks are action-fighting style. Hit the correct button sequence on your controller to do the most damage. New attacks are learned from Combat King Magazines.

Irvine
Irvine's Shot ability is powerful once you obtain some AP Ammo. Time your shots correctly, you'll have to practice to get the most out of it.
Laguna
Laguna's limit break is called Desperado. There's not much to say about it. Laguna swings (from a rope attatched to nothing) and shoots. It's pretty cool.Seifer
Seifer's limit break is Fire Cross. Choose whatever sounds good from the list. Straight forward, but you don't get many chances to use it.
