Chocobo Locations
There are three locations where you can play the Chocobo Hot & Cold game.
- Chocobo's Forest is where it all begins. It's located near the southern beaches of the Mist Continent.
- Chocobo's Lagoon is located on an island southwest of Daguerro. You need the Reef ability to get there.
- Chocobo's Sky Garden changes location occasionally. It floats in the clouds and you need the sky ability to get there. You can access it by using a dead pepper while hovering above one of the shadows on the map. Only one shadow is available at a time so check the 5 locations on this map. They are represented by orange dots.
Using Dead Peppers, you can also unlock more locations and treasures. On the Chocograph Map, the green dots represent Bubbles in the water. Using a dead pepper while swimming in the bubbles will force your chocobo down to find treasure on the bottom. The yellow stars indicate cracks in the mountains or cliffs. Using a dead pepper while facing them will get Choco to break through revealing Treasure or a new location.
These are good ways to get important items. For example, On Disc 4, use a dead pepper where the Shimmering Island was. There is no bubble, but swimming underwater in the center of the remaining islands will allow you to get items, including Zidane's Ultima Weapon.
One of the bubbles can be accessed through Quan's Dwelling. After you have seen the convorsation between Quan, Quina and Vivi (enter Quan's Dwelling with Vivi and Quina to do so), examine by the ledge to look down. You'll get the option of using a dead pepper. You must have the sea ability.
Dead peppers can also be used to reach Mognet Central and Chocobo's Paradise.
