Mass Effect 2
Soverign has been defeated, and the galaxy has returned to relative peace. But the threat of the Reapers is far from over — and with the apparent loss of Commander Shepard, that threat seems even more real…
Mass Effect 2 will pick up shortly after the original Mass Effect left off.The game is currently in development at BioWare, by the same team that created the original.
The teaser trailer for the game, released in February 2009, declares that Commander Shepard was killed in action — a presumably unconfirmed assessment — and shows a Geth with his armour.
BioWare has also noted that players should keep their save files from the first game, as Mass Effect 2 will allow you to continue playing as your character(s) from the first game. Choices you made in the original will continue to have an effect on the sequel.
As for players who do not have a save file, they will need to create a new character and will be briefed on the events of the first installment.
BioWare plans to release the game in early 2010, and has announced plans to release a third installment, Mass Effect 3, making the series a trilogy.
