Tiamat

[ Mythology : Assyrian, Mesopotamian ]

Tiamat is the dragon of Chaos, the first entity. She is freshwater, a counterpart to saltwater, Apsu, in union with whom she becomes the mother of the gods. She is killed by the god Merodach, who then takes her body to form heaven and earth.

In Final Fantasy VIII, Tiamat is a dragon that can be fought in Ultimecia's castle shortly before the final battle. The summon Eden can be drawn from her.

In Final Fantasy XI: Online, Tiamat is a massive dragon - one of the most powerful opponents in the game.
