Accidents Happen

Oblivion: Dark Brotherhood Quest

Your next mark is a Wood Elf named Baenlin. This is your first Dark Brotherhood quest with a potential bonus, so listen closely to the details.

You can kill Baenlin in any way you see fit to complete the quest, but only by staging his death as an accident will you receive the bonus. It's fairly easy to do it the right way for this one.

Baenlin likes to take a nap in his home every day from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm in his favorite chair. This is your opportunity to strike.

Head to Bruma's East Gate and hang a right. Baenlin's house has a back entrance, so wait until about 8:00 pm and enter through the back door to the basement. Come out of the basement and quickly sneak up the stairs. Gromm, Baenlin's servant, wanders around the main floor, so make sure he does not detect you. Continue into one of the bedrooms where you'll find a board that leads to a crawlspace. Push it out of the way and you'll find some straps in the wall.

All you need to do is loosen the straps and the Minotaur head on the wall above Baenlin's chair will come down, crushing Baenlin beneath it.

Gromm will be hanging around the chair after this, so don't approach the body. Retrace your steps back out of the house and return to the Sanctuary. Vicente will give you a gold reward, and if you fulfilled the bonus, the Sufferthorn dagger. You'll also be promoted in rank to "Slayer",

The Sufferthorn is an enchanted dagger that drains both health and strength from its target, in additional to the physical damage of the knife. It can be expensive to recharge, but this dagger can be extremely useful in Arena matches.

Next, it's time for Scheduled for Execution.
