The Purification
Oblivion: Dark Brotherhood Quest
Lucien instructs you to perform a purification on the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary in Cheydinhal by killing all of its members.
As a part of this quest, you'll need to kill Vicente Valtieri. If you ever want to inherit Vicente's "dark gift" and become a vampire, now is the time. Of course, you may still become a vampire later if you contract Porphyric Hemophilia when fighting with other vampires.
To fulfill this quest, you must eliminate all seven members of the Dark Brotherhood sanctuary:
- Antoinetta Marie
- Gogron gro-Bolmog
- M'raaj-Dar
- Ocheeva
- Telaendril
- Teinaava
- Vicente Valtieri
To assist you, Lucien gives you a poison apple and a scroll. You can also obtain ten more of these from a Very Hard locked barrel in his area.
It's easiest to take out the members one by one, and they don't tend to help each other out. Still, try to perform each murder as safely as possible. The Dark Guardian skeleton will protect any of them.
You may kill them however you'd like. Leaving a few poison apples in the food cupboard and on the tables, or in people's inventories when you pickpocket them might kill them — but this is a slow porcess.
Vicente Valtieri can become easier if you pickpocket him while he's sleeping and deposit some garlic on him. You can find four cloves of Garlic in Antoinetta Marie's chest in the living quarters (Average lock).
You can also attack various members of the Dark Brotherhood and get them to chase you. Then, run outside and let the city guards take care of them.
You might have the hardest time tracking down Telaendril. She's out on assignment most of the time. You can either wait until she's around and attack her in the sanctuary, or grab her schedule off of Ocheeva's corpse and track her down.
Return to Lucien at Fort Farragut and he'll promote you to the rank of Silencer. All Speakers have their own personal assassin, and you're now to get your jobs from him. However, your jobs won't come from speaking wtih him directly. You'll receive the orders through dead drops — special hidden envelopes that contain your orders.
Lucien gives you a new horse, Shadowmere, and sends you to Hero Hill where you can find your first Dead Drop orders hidden inside a rock. The orders lead you to the next quest, Affairs of a Wizard
