Tabula Rasa

We didn't see it coming. But when the shardship fell to the earth the Bane were there, and Earth… Earth was lost. Those of us fit enough to carry on the species were escorted off to far-away worlds. Now, we fight to reclaim our place in the galaxy. We fight for the hope that we can one day return home. We fight to survive.

Tabula Rasa was a sci-fi MMORPG from Richard Garriott, the producer of City of Heroes and Ultima Online. The game took place on alien worlds, where the survivors of an assault on Earth had taken refuge, hoping to start anew with a 'clean slate' (as the latin name suggests). The game brought together first-person shooter gameplay and standard RPG elements.

Tabula Rasa announced in late 2008 that it would be closing due to underwhelming support for the game. The announcement came a few weeks after its creator, Richard Garriott, announced his departure from the project. The game was free to play from December 23, 2008 until its closing on February 28, 2009.
